At first this didn't work as it would try to extend the game onto the bottom 'screen' and crash. Now I 'Extend these Displays' with the monitor as the main display and the audio receiver showing up as a display below the monitor.

I updated windows accidentally (went to restart to fix a different issue and I installed W10 anniversary edition), changed all of my settings back to how they should be for W10, deleted tons of apps and bloatware, and went back to my display settings. My resolution kept getting stuck at weird settings and I couldn't change it back through Windows settings or Nvidia Control Panel without a hard restart. when KOTOR switches between cutscenes and gameplay it changes the in-game resolution drastically, along with audio issues, and kept crashing nvidia drivers. I was also having issues with older games crashing, e.g. I think windows couldn't differentiate native resolutions from both, and kept defaulting to the lower of the two, not showing options above 1080p. Pre-fix, I was trying to send video and audio to both devices (still am, but I used to too), this isn't an issue for other games (Rocket League) so I'm not sure if this is the entire problem, but it seemed to be the main problem.
The issue still occurs when I set Windows to "Duplicate Displays" for the two outputs. By changing output numbers in the settings files and "Optimizing" settings in GameWorks I could get the game to launch at 4K, but as soon as I peaked at the Graphics Options it wouldn't show options above 1920x1080, and the settings would revert to a lower resolution. Problem was with hardware/windows, not just the game.įirst, my setup currently has my DP out connected to a 4K monitor and an HDMI out to a Pioneer receiver pushing 5.1 surround.
Hopefully someone will find this Witcher 4K resolution issue fix and it can help them too. OK, not that anyone will read this, but I (think I) figured out the problem and fixed my issues.
